Rifle Correctional Center Reservoir Reservoir Number One Liner Rifle, Colorado
Rehabilitation design and construction at the Colorado Department of Corrections' RCC
No. 1 Dam included construction of a two stage soil filter and the installation of a
geomembrane liner. The liner system consisted of a 60 mil Hypalon geomembrane underlain
by a 16 ounce geosynthetic cushion layer. The liner covers approximately 180,000 square
feet of the reservoir.

Water storage in the reservoir is provided to meet the prison's fire water demands and
augment wells for the potable supply to the prison. The project included the unique
challenge of working in a high security environment and utilizing inmate work forces
in the construction.
