Quonset Bulkhead Project North Kingston, Rhode Island
Deere & Ault Consultants conducted the geotechnical exploration program, designed
the sheeting requirements, determined the anchor loads, and oversaw the anchor testing
during construction.
The project included the following features:
700 feet of new anchored bulkhead.
Maximum bulkhead height is 46 feet (exposed wall height, i.e. grade to mudline).
Soil anchors are DSI Encapsulated strand soil anchors with Class I protection.
Depending on location and wall height, single anchors and stacked pairs of anchors were used:
Stacked 176 kip anchors on 6.6 foot centers.
Single 200 kip anchors on 6 to 10 foot centers.
The stacked anchors were locked off simultaneously.
